Fun with Gramma and Granddaddy!
Sunday we all went to Gramma's house! Denise, Barbara Ann, and Uncle John met us there and Marvin's mom fixed lasagna with fresh vegetables and lemon ice box pie for desert! After lunch Mr. Jimmy (aka Granddaddy) took Camden outside to his watermelon patch and let her "pick" a watermelon and a few tomatoes. Then he let her wear his hat and he pulled her around in a little garden tub. It was so cute I just had to get some pictures.
1st Cookie
Sunday morning I decided to let Neil try a teether cookie. I know its really early but he is always shoving whatever he can get his hand on in his mouth and I wanted to see if he could hold the cookie long enough to try and eat it. Well he did and he loved it! He is terribly messy and I thought I was going to have to bathe him when he got finished.

Dress-up/Tea Party
Camden has discovered my jewelry box and loves to "borrow" a necklace or bracelet from it on a daily basis. Today she wanted me to sit down with her and have some tea, so we dressed up in our "best" jewelry and had a tea party! I was never a girly girl growing up but having a little girl to do these things with has been more fun than I ever imagined it would be. Below are a few pics from our party.

Lily's 1st Birthday Party!
Saturday, August 21st we celebrated Lily's 1st birthday! It was a blast and I think Camden had more fun and played harder than just about any kid there. Below are some pics from the fun-filled day.

My Babies
The kids are learning, growing, and doing more everyday and I know if I don't start recording some of their milestones I won't be able to ever remember when they occured.
Camden is able to count to 6 on her fingers and recognize the numbers as well in her books and on flash cards. She is learning what opposites are and so far knows about 4 or 5. When I say nursery rhymes with her I can pause in just about any place and she will tell me the word I am supposed to say next. She won't come out and recite a whole one by herself yet but she knows them by heart.
Neil started rice cereal this past weekend and is loving it! Camden never acquired a taste for it even when we mixed it with juice but he seems to enjoy it just fine mixed with water or formula. I have a feeling he may start on baby food a little sooner than she did because he ate a whole bowl full of the cereal tonight. He is rolling from front to back and trying to get from back to front but can't seem to get the hang of it. He is definately more active than Camden was at his age because he now has to be strapped into everything! He even figured out how to wiggle and squirm his way out of the Bumbo, we may have our hands full once he starts crawling.

Single Parent: Week 1
As most of you know, Marvin works for farmers and although we have been together 6 years, I still have trouble with harvest season. I come from a long line of non-farmers and am not used to all of the long long long hours they have to put in to get the crop in before the rain. This was the first full week of harvesting of 2010 and here is how I managed to get through it and keep what little bit of sanity I have left.
Monday - We went to visit Mrs. Pinion in Indianola and got back around 1:00 then Jill and her three stopped by for a quick visit. Uncle Allen came over around 4:00 to try and fix our laptop. And low and behold God sent a rain! Marvin actually got home at 5:30 and we had supper together as a family.
Tuesday - Had some house cleaning and ironing to catch up on and after lunch Kara and Rachel stopped by for a quick visit. Then after supper Jennifer and Libby came over for a little bit. Camden adores Libby but won't say a word the whole time she is here!! Marvin got in at 10:00 just as I was finishing the last bit of vaccuming.
Wednesday - Neil had his 4 month check-up at 10:00 and Gramma graciously offered to come help. We got there at 10:00 and didn't get to a room until 12:00! Finally got home with two exhausted babies and adults. He checked out fine, weighs 13.5 lbs and is developing just as he is supposed to. Shots were terrible as usual but I guess they have to get them. I am sooo grateful for a wonderful family and friends and could not be the person I am without their support! Marvin got home around 11 p.m.
Thursday - We had a playdate with Chloe, Ella, and Rachel at 9:30 at our house! It has already been soo much easier getting together with friends being this close to everyone. Neil was still a little fussy from the shots but getting better. Lindsey even invited us for supper! It was so nice to have such a busy day and Camden and Chloe are playing together better and better all the time. We are so blessed to have Christian friends who have children the same age as ours! I know we will all appreciate it when our tots turn to teens and have friends where the parents are one the same moral scale.
Friday - This day was by far the hardest...Camden cried for Marvin several times and I had to fight real hard not to cry with her. After supper she started asking for him again and I couldn't take it anymore so we loaded up and went to the field he was harvesting in. She was so excited when I told her we were going to see Daddy, she had not seen him since Monday! She got to ride in a combine with him for the first time and loved it. Leaving him was hard and she kept saying "Mommy, Daddy back, Daddy back" all the way home and didn't want me to take her out of the car. But I was glad she at least got to see him for a little bit because it will be Sunday before she sees him again.
Saturday - Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse than being alone on a Saturday, Marvin called and said he would be home by 6:30 in time to play with Camden and help out with bath time! She was so happy to have him home that she wanted to play dress-up with him and insisted that he be the one to dress her and did not want me helping at all. Neil was content to relax in the beanbag in her room and take in all the excitement.

Words that made me think....
I wanted to post pictures of our living room progress but thought this was more important. This morning in church our choir sang a song they have done several times before and I always enjoyed it but today I actually "heard" one of the lines for the first time and it really touched me. The song was "How Deep the Father's Love for Us" and the line I am referring to is the one that says "Ashamed I hear my mocking voice call out among the scoffers, It was my sin that held Him there until it was accompolished". I knew He died for MY sins as well as everyone elses but I never before imagined myself in the crowd jeering at Him while He was being crucified. Very thought provoking and I just wanted to share the song and lyrics. There is a link below with the song being sung by Fernando Ortega.
